The Border relationship began some three centuries ago. Exploration and colonization spread from Mexico City in all directions to settlements throughout the northern frontier into what are now Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and California.
Current international political and social conditions have magnified the United States-Mexico border region’s strategic role, uniting our states and compelling us to cooperate more than ever to ensure greater security and efficiency and a stronger economy at the border.
The Border Governors Conference creates an important opportunity to address our shared challenges on both sides of the border if we are to prosper as a region.
